Why You Should Think Twice Before Buying Supplements on Amazon

It’s important to be intentional about the quality of the products we consume, especially when it comes to nutrition. In these modern times when everyone is purchasing most things online, Amazon has become the go-to destination for pretty much anything people need. However, when it comes to buying health supplements, there's a few things you should consider before deciding if you should buy them through Amazon.

Counterfeit products

Counterfeiters have a field day on Amazon, even when you can find dozens or even hundreds of great reviews (which can be faked) under the products. They're skilled at creating imitation supplements that look just like the real deal, complete with fancy labels and logos. The underlying issue lies in these products not being authentic or genuine on most occasions and often are composed of different substances which might even be harmful to your health.

Expiration dates

Making purchases through Amazon leads to an increased chance of receiving out-of-date items. Given the vast number of third-party vendors competing for your attention on the platform, some may choose making a quick profit over your health. Unfortunately this happens quite often, which is why I don’t recommend purchasing supplements through Amazon.

Warehouse conditions

The gigantic Amazon warehouses are not the best place for storing supplements which require specific conditions to maintain their quality. Temperature variations, humidity, and exposure to light can all mess with the potency and integrity of the active ingredients in your supplements. And since Amazon has countless products to manage, quality control can sometimes take a backseat, which is not ideal.

Third-Party Testing

When it comes to supplements, knowing exactly what ingredients they contain is crucial. This is where third-party examination comes into play. Trustworthy brands put significant effort into extensive testing processes to assure safety, effectiveness and transparency of their products. Nevertheless, Amazon does not enforce vendors selling such products to submit third-party evaluation reports which means you might fall victim to uncertainty regarding quality and genuineness of your supplement purchases.

Conclusion

Now that you have this knowledge, it's time to rethink that "Buy Now" button on Amazon. While the convenience and variety of products are tempting, your health deserves better than the risks that come with buying supplements from this online giant. Instead, opt for trusted sources like specialised health stores, authorised retailers, or even directly from the manufacturers themselves.
